Today, as I work in corporate communications observing and reporting as lawmakers work on legislation, I see the hurdles and barriers that will face our district. I want to serve as a resource to my community providing information and connections to critical decisions at a state level that will impact us as a district. In the last decade, I have spent time cultivating relationships and making connections which I get to use every day as I do my trustee work. In each of these endeavors, I value staying curious and recognizing the value of others. I am intentional about making connections and working towards collaborative solutions that address a problem. I recognize that experience and being committed to the hard and necessary work, from committee hearings to listening to the community at all hours during the day, is vital. Although the journey requires commitment each and every day to continuously improve the system, there are a few big rocks in our “environment” that need focus.
Since I started this journey as a school board trustee we have had 3 Superintendents, 6 new trustees, 2 CFO’s, a massive winter storm, and a pandemic - just to name a few things. During this time, the number of academic and fine art successes continue to grow. A bright future for all of our students requires intentional focus, a knowledge of the environment, and a focus on the big rocks that need to be moved to clear a path for students of #1LISD.
We now have a compass, in our guiding documents and strategic plan, to point us towards our next steps. I see the intense focus on our students and community and my experiences make me uniquely qualified for this role. I can say Leander ISD has had some shining moments in the classroom over the last two years but education looks different…even from just 2 years ago. It is vital to remember a massive education system is made up collectively of individual voices and when we form relationships with each other and have a dialogue, we then unleash the potential of our what our district can do for students. My name is Trish Bode and I am asking for your vote and support. I would be honored to be a resource for our community and continue serving as your Trustee for Place 1 in LISD.
