Focused on Student Learning

I voted to add our Virtual Learning Academy and Early College High Educational to our #1LISD family when the board started a journey in 2019 to expand school choice in our neighborhood. I voted in favor of reforms to the GPA calculation that will let students choose courses and career paths based on their unique interests and scholarly trajectories.

Additionally, I have supported deeper learning either through adoption of our Core Beliefs as a board or in our strategic plan which also includes students critically thinking. I have and will continue to advocate for class size ratios to be a focus in our budget development process. Since I have been President, the Leander ISD Board has elevated the student voice by ensuring a student learning presentation at school board meetings during the school year, students being promoted to the top of citizen comments to speak first, and an agenda that highlights the student experience.
